Sources and editorial policy
This is a patient-run site about a medical condition. That combination requires being explicit about where the content comes from and what it cannot do.
How these pages are written
- Content is compiled from peer-reviewed literature, established clinical references such as DermNet and the Merck Manual, and regulatory sources, alongside the original testimony material this project began with.
- Numbers are attributed to the type of study they come from. A web-based survey of self-selected users is labelled as such and is not presented as equivalent to a trial. Single case reports are labelled as single case reports.
- Where the evidence is contradictory — water temperature is the clearest example — the contradiction is stated rather than smoothed over.
- Where a claim comes from one person's experience, it is identified as one person's experience.
- The site is written by a person living with the condition. It is not written or formally reviewed by a clinician, and it does not present itself as clinical authority.
What this project does not do
- No advertising, sponsorship, affiliate links or commercial relationships of any kind.
- Nothing is sold, and no supplement or product is recommended for purchase.
- No mailing list. An email address given with a testimony is used to reply, and for nothing else.
- No tracking beyond aggregate page analytics. What is collected.
